In the designing of the pool Neil took into account the difference in fishing between the seasons, building the pool to cater for pole, waggler and feeder fishing. The width of the pool will produce good fishing in the hardest of conditions, being able to catch wary fish from beyond the normal pole line. The average depth of the pool is 6 feet deep which will provide good sport in winter as well as summer.

The Island Pool is proving to be a favourite pool for pleasure anglers, with regular catches of around 200 lb in a day

In recent matches the pool is proving to be fair all around. At the moment matches are being won with an average of 55 lb, the back up weights are excellent and close. Most anglers catching 40 lb plus. The match record stands at an amazing 166 lb 12 oz. The match record holder is Rob Prekins who set the record during the UK Individual Championships round one in June 2007

The main species in the lake are predominantly F1's. It's is absolutely solid with them, with some around 4 lb. Other species are being constantly stocked, Bream & Tench to 3 lb, Crucian carp, Chub, Roach to 1 lb, Perch & Gudgeon. Catches are being taken on all methods. Pole proving the quickest at the moment. The fish respond well to any bait, adding small regular amounts of groundbait to keep the fish interested.
