The championships were first devised to find an overall champion from local clubs. The first match was a 50 peg match, which was contested by the top two champions from each local club. The past winners are Lee Richardson, Dave Birchall, Steve Finnerty and Dave Coulburn
Todays match has been expanded to accommodate most of Gilders Fishing Tackle's own customers. 190 took part with many other customers having to be disappointed by being added to a waiting list. The customers fill in a form at the shop. The form is like a raffle ticket. A draw takes place to see who actually fishes. However from next year the event will be for over 200 to try to satisfy all their customers. Jerry and Pam put a lot of their own time as well as money into this successful event.

There was plenty of work going on in the background while the match is being fished, none more so than the preparation of the buffet provided by Jerry and Pam. 200 servings of Chicken Legs, Sausage Rolls and Meat Pies were successfully plated ready for the finish of the match. Jerry and Pam would like to thank Ian Watkins (Drennen Rep) for his welcome assistance
The excellent administration work done before, during and after the match by Pam, ensures the draw runs smoothly, the weigh in is efficient and the results are sorted out quickly. Every angler was at their peg 20 minutes after the draw and the results were ready 20 minutes after the weigh in, an excellent job, well done
