 Introduction

Heronbrook Fisheries are situated just off the A519 at Slindon, two miles from Eccleshall. Set in 25 acres of the beautiful Staffordshire countryside there are now SIX amazing pools for you to try. All were designed and built by the owner Neil Dale. The first and most established is the Specimen Pool opened in 1994, followed shortly after by the Match Pool. These two pools have now been combined to make a fabulous 65 peg water, the new name for this water is the 'Match Lake'

The Canal was designed and built in 1996 mainly to suite the pole angler. In 2003 the Bridge Pool was added. In 2004 the Island Pool was opened and the New Canal was made. Meadow Pool was added in 2004

The home of match fishing

Heronbrook proves to be a club anglers favourite. From April to October every year nearly all the pools are filled with club matches. Booking the pools needs careful planning as it is often needs a club to book the pools 2 years in advance. Neil's open matches have to be planned in the same manner.

For a few years now Heronbrook has been a favourite for Major Events too. AT/Maver Pairs, Fisho qualifiers, UK Individual Championships, AT Supercup, Drennan Super League, NFA Disabled National, NFA Womens National, Police National, Army National are just amongst a few that have regularly used in the past or planned for the future.

Heronbrook is also used for DVD and National Magazine features letting the angling stars show their methods and techniques on a variety of waters.

Our 5 Star Cafe

Full breakfast, sandwiches and snacks are available in our 120 seater 5 star cafe

Ratemyplace is supported by all of Staffordshire's major councils
Ratemyplace is a scheme by which a food providers services are rigorously checked and rated
This incorporates checks on pest control records, temperature records, food just cooked and food stored around the facility, from the hand washing facilities to the cleanliness of staff clothing. From delivery to service the inspection is thorough and methodical. Are the doors pest proof? Are the walls damaged? Are the lights in working order? Are the fridges clean?
The inspection is split into three areas: Hygiene, structure and confidence in management
Points are awarded (not in a good way) for faults found in the kitchen. The more points an establishment gets the lower the rating
Based on that, each establishment is given a grade telling inspectors how often they need to revisit. It is based on the number of people eating there, the type of food served and the experiences of previous visits

Heronbrook hold the top rating of 5 stars

P A A

Professional Anglers Association

Was set up and funded by the Angling Trade Association in 1998, with the aim of creating a body of experienced anglers to develop your angling skills at whatever level. All successful coaches have obtained a qualification by attending a four-day course at Leicestershire's Brooksby College.

Every PAA Coach is an expert in all coarse fishing related matters. He or she can give you free advice about the best places to fish, obtaining a license, the correct tackle and bait, bank side safety, - in fact everything you need to know as regards to starting or improving your skills with this most rewarding and exiting of hobbies.

Your PAA Coach can even offer introductory fishing lessons for all ages, plus refresher or even specialist courses.

Learn about the Countryside

As well as being a healthy hobby, fishing teaches us all about the environment. We witness the ever changing seasons, not to mention all the wildlife associated with the rivers, lakes and canals. Youngsters, in particular, benefit from seeing the various kinds of wildlife and develop a respect for the countryside.

Inexpensive Activity for all the Family!

From toddlers, through the spectrum, to pensioners fishing offers fun, interest, excitement, exercise and fresh air and cost wise is favourable with other popular sports.

Enjoy the Peace and Quiet

If, like many, you have a busy, active life, fishing offers a wonderful contrast, - peace and tranquility, - time to relax and unwind. It offers the working community a welcome break from their daily rigours.

Neil Dale

Neil Dale PAA Coach at Heronbrook Fisheries

Neil Dale was chosen to attend the very first Coaching Award Scheme in May 1999. Just to be chosen for the first course was a privilege, as so many people had applied. Coaching anglers is certainly not new to Neil, who used to own a fishing tackle shop at nearby Stone for ten years. The very first course run from the shop helped fourteen years old Simon Allen achieve a remarkable double in 1990 when he became NFA West Midland Regional Junior Champion and NFA National Junior Champion.

The following year fifteen years old William Bowers, from Stone, also won the West Midland Regional Junior Title.

Coaching sessions can be tailored to suit your own requirements. Anything from a basic one hour session to a full day session at the Heronbrook Fisheries can be accommodated, including day ticket, tackle and bait.
