The Farmhouse

Like many Saxon villages Swynnerton had its Home Farm usually the oldest farm in the area. Swynnerton's home farm house which has been occupied by the family for over 100 years, revealed some of its wattle and daub construction during restoration. Most rooms having private facilities.

The guest house is a family run establishment with a homely atmosphere and welcomes children of any age. We offer bed and breakfast at competitive rates. Evening meals are available at the Fitzgerald Arms, approximately 200 metres away.

The Home Farm is situated within easy reach of many beauty spots and places of interest. Laying half a dozen miles from the Potteries and the Gladstone Pottery Musium, it is near to Darlaston where the Wedgewood Factory is situated. It is equidistance from Birmingham and Manchester and within easy access to the M6 and had Trentham Gardens on it's doorstep while the Manifold and Dove Valleys set in Derbyshire's glorious peak district are only half an hour away. Alton Towers, Chester Zoo and the West Midland Safari Park are within easy travelling distance.

Sited in Swynnerton, one of North Staffordshire's most picturesque villages, the farmhouse is the original Home Farm of Lord Stafford in whose county estate the village is situated. The guest house is prominently placed on the main road through the village, it is next to the village smithy complete with spreading chestnut tree. Although nowadays more time is spent serving petrol than shoeing horses, and modern cars rather than ploughshares await repair, the business is in the hands of the same family as it was four hundred years ago. It is reputed that it was the village smith, who met Captain Stone - Cromwell's Emissary sent in February 1644 to raze Swynnerton Hall to the ground.
